How it works
1. Connect
Sign in with Clio (OAuth). We never see your Clio password.
2. Scan
We read your people and companies and group likely duplicates: same name ignoring case, accents and "Ltd/LLC/SAS", same email, same phone number. Each group gets a confidence score.
3. Review
For each group you choose the contact to keep. You see what is linked to each one: matters, relationships, communications, notes, documents, tasks, calendar entries, bills.
4. Preview, then merge
A dry run lists every change before anything is written. Nothing happens until you type MERGE.

Delete last, or not at all
The duplicate is deleted only after every other step succeeded. If anything fails we stop, keep both contacts and show a report.

FAQ
Does Clio already merge contacts?
Clio Manage has no automatic merge. The manual process moves each matter, communication, note and document, then deletes the duplicate. Bulk delete only handles exact duplicates.
What exactly is moved?
Matters where the duplicate is the client, relationships, communications, documents, and missing emails, phones, addresses and custom field values. Notes cannot be moved by the Clio API, so we recreate each note on the kept contact with a line saying where it came from and who wrote it, then delete the original at the very end.
What is never touched?
Bills, trust and ledger activity, and client portal access. If the duplicate has any of these, we block the merge and explain what to do in Clio.
Can I undo a merge?
Clio does not restore deleted contacts through the API, so a merge cannot be undone with one click. That is why we preview first and keep a full snapshot for 30 days, which contains everything needed to recreate the contact by hand.
Where is my data stored?
In the EU (Paris). Contact lists and snapshots are deleted when you disconnect, and snapshots expire after 30 days. See the privacy policy.
